The glass roof, while not old, had been leaking in heavy rain and was badly stained with green algae, blocking the view of the sky. The glass panels had also been laid horizontally, preventing the self-cleaning properties of the glazing from working effectively. Debris had also built up against the horizontal joints.
Whilst remaining keen to preserve the period character of the property, the owners also wanted to add a ‘contemporary snap’ to the rear by installing anthracite grey bi-folding doors to contrast with the existing white windows.
